Meet Alex Behrend
Like so many of us living in the neighborhoods south of Market and Mission Bay, my biggest accomplishment the last decade (or more!) has been surviving the exploitation of one employer after another ... institutions and corporations that sought to take advantage of my disabilities and my vulnerable circumstances after a freak accident almost took my life in 2014.
The one exception was working as an organizer for tenants-rights champion Supervisor Dean Preston in 2024!
As for those other employers, I didn’t just roll over when these extremely wealthy institutions and big corporations used their manipulative HR executives and high-priced lawyers to pressure me to give up my rights.
I fought to address the unlawful conduct that most every person just trying to make ends meet in The City sadly knows too well … unsafe working conditions, discrimination & retaliation, and more.
I fought the filthy rich and well-connected, AND WON!
And you can trust I’m as tenacious and effective for all of us exploited by Billionaires and neglected by the corporation-coddling politicians in City Hall.
